Question We are a family of 3 couples with an infant and 2year old. We want to stay a couple of days by the volcano and 5 days near Parker Ranch or Waimea about 15 minutes from a sand beach for the kids. Any suggestions? Thanks
Answer Aloha
For so many people with kids a little cottage or house is the best.
Some hotels like the Waikoloa have houses you can rent, so they are part of the hotel, but not in the hotel, meaning you can use all the hotel facilities but not be cramped in a room.
You can also check the Hawaii Visitors Bureau as they have serious addresses on all islands, sometimes private homes will rent out a cottage in their backyard.
If you stay near Kona, you are about 1 hour away from Waimea and about 2 hours from Hilo where the volcanoes are.
You can also choose to stay a few days in Waimea or near Parker Ranch and then a few days near Hilo so you don't need to drive back and forward. And Kona is near the beach.
On the Hilo side you can't really swim so if you want a beach stay on the west side ( Kona ).
Hope this helps
