Question
Dear Malia,  Can you offer me any good advice regarding renting a car.  We are going to Maui and Kauai in mid march and I was wondering if you have any tips on saving money when renting a car.

Answer
Aloha,
First of all you are right to rent a car on Kaua'i, cause even though the bus system on O'ahu is excellent, it can be tricky on Kaua'i.
Of course you have the usual companies : Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, Dollar, Alamo.
I am not sure if you already have booked your trip but lots of airline companies and also hotels give better rates when you book a package meaning hotel/air/car.
Also try check with the hotel, often they work with other companies who rent cars.
Finally if you want to wait until you get to Kaua'i, some gas stations rent a few cars at cheaper prices, they are not as new but hey they drive.
Let me know if you need any more help!
Malia
