Hawaii - maui in September

Expert: Malia - 3/25/2008

Question
Aloha,

My husband and I are planning a trip to Maui we are thinking we will go in late September, Probably the 22nd to around the 2nd of October.  I am wondering what the weather is usually like?  We spent 10 days in Waikiki and it rained often but it was 75 and raining and it was very nice.  We want to make sure it is going to be warm but not to warm.  Would you recommend this as a good time to come or can you recommend a better time to come.  We don't want to come during the summer when it will be busy.

Answer
Aloha,
I just came back from Maui 12 hours ago and it was beautiful. You will love it. I hadn't been to Maui in a long time even though I know the island very well and it is gorgeous.
September actually is our warmest month and temperatures vary between 85 and 90 during the day, but since you are coming at the end of September, it will most likely be around 80 during the day and 75 at night. It almost never rains in September, I am not sure when you were here in Honolulu last time. It rains a lot between Nov and Feb.
Right now we have 83 today and at night we have about 75 just to give you an idea now in March.
As for busy, we have a steady flow of 500,000 tourists per month so it's not busier in the summer than now, but of course schools are out in the summer so there are more kids.
Anyways, hope my answer helps.
