Hawaii - October Vacation

Question
QUESTION: I am a 60-year-old woman who is planning an October vacation for the purpose of rest, relaxation and pampering.  I will be traveling alone and have been told that Hawaii would be a good destination.  I am not interested in a large resort but want a small inn or a B&B with butler services or lodging in a family setting.  I would like access to spa services.  Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Aloha,
Your vacation plan sounds lovely :-)
And yes Hawaii is a wonderful destination to relax. However if you want a "spa setting" as well as "butler service" you will have to go to a larger hotel as little inns don't provide these services. You can however choose a hotel that's not a huge resort and has spread bungalows around their property so you still get the privacy you need as well as a more family -like setting but with all the amenities you like. All islands provide these kinds of services as well as lush gardens, ocean vistas etc. but if you've never been here, I suggest you go to Maui. Honolulu is a busy city and  if you only want to relax, then look into hotels in Lahaina or Ka'anapali on Maui or even Kihei on Maui.
Check the 4 seasons, Mauna Lani and Outrigger Hotels.
Please let me know if I can help you more ok?

QUESTION: Are there inns that you would recommend?

Answer
Aloha again,
There are many so called inns but mostly they are private residences that rent out a cottage or a small studio. To be able to get accurate and reliable listings, go to the
Hawaii Visitors Bureau Website. They have serious names and families on all islands and you can check with them. You can also try the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce and the Outrigger Hotel Chain which has hotels of different standards and sizes and also have vacation rentals. Finally you can try to visit the Mayor's Office website, they have a tourist rubric.
Hope this helps.
