Hawaii - Summer living in Hawaii

Expert: Malia - 9/30/2008

Question
My daughter and her boyfriend want to live and work in Hawaii for the summer.  He is surfer, kiteboarder, etc.  What is the best island for them to look for work and cheap living?  What are the best resources to find jobs and living space?

Answer
Aloha,
Right now the economy is bad here like everywhere else, it's especially bad for us cause we rely so much on tourism.
O'ahu or Maui would be the best options for sure, the other islands are too remote.
To find a job you can try the "Hawaii Visitors Bureau" and the "University of Hawaii" or "Hawaii Pacific University", they offer programs for students including accommodations at the university or nearby.
You can also try the Chamber of Commerce in Hawaii and finally direct places like
"Aloha Tower", "Ala Moana Shopping Center" or official sites such as "Honolulu Zoo", "Waikiki Aquarium", "Sea Life Park", "Hawaii Adventures Water Park", "Hana'uma Bay" and "Bishop Museum".
Hope this all helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
