AboutMalia Expertise Aloha,
I can answer I would say about 99 % of all questions relating to Hawai`i.
Experience I work for tour agencies as a tour guide so have a wonderful island experience especially from the view of travelers and newcomers to the islands. I am also a high school language teacher.
Question QUESTION: A young Hawaiian lady, about 20, that I know slightly, was wearing her hair up the other day and on top of the hair she was wearing a deep red or purplish flower SLIGHTLY to the right and OVER her right ear, does this mean anything? or does she just like to wear a flower in her hair?
Thank you.
ANSWER: Aloha and merry Christmas,
The color and type of flower is personal preference or just whatever flower is in season.
On the right side it means you are single on the left you are taken or married.
Even slightly on right or left when hair is up means that. It's always over the ear.
Hope this helps

QUESTION: Could you tell me how to say, In Hawaiian "Denise, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you," If, in good conscience you can tell me this please write it out phonetically.
Then if you could give me the courage to say it to Denise, I would be very grateful even if she laughs at me.
THANK YOU.
Steve
