Hawaii - Hawaii's Quarter

Expert: Malia - 3/27/2009

Question
Hello Malia!! Would you mind translating for me the inscription on the commemorative quarter for Hawaii?  It says:  Ua mao Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono.  THANKS very much.

Answer
Aloha,
Here I am :-)
It means: the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness
and it is our state slogan/motto
it means that in order to have a good land=country=population=respect=friends
you need to be pono which means a good person, a person who does the right thing in life, be nice and kind to others, respect yourself, your family, neighbors and friends and be good to the land, the country, because we live on such a small island and need to take care of it
