Hawaii - Hawaiian name

Expert: Malia - 3/2/2009

Question
Can Kaikoa or Kai'koa be used as a boys name?If so what would it mean.

Answer
Aloha,
Sure you can. We have lots of names in Hawaiian ending with "a" like: Ikaika for example.
Kai'koa means kai= ocean and koa= it's a type of Hawaiian wood
so it would mean "wooden ocean" but that could also mean strong like the ocean for example because Koa is a very strong wood, so a beautiful name for a boy.
