Hawaii - Meaning of phrase

Expert: Malia - 6/28/2009

Question
Which would be most common to mean "calm" - Malie, La'i, or Hala'i?  And for
"strength" - Ikaika, or Mahi.  I have found that A LOT of translators aren't
accurate for language used on islands.  Mahalo in advance!
A hui hou - Koka :-)

Answer
Aloha,
Sorry I am in Europe right now therefore the late reply.
Malie or Malia means quiet, but mostly in quiet water, like flat water, no waves.
So it really depends  which meaning of quiet you talk about. As for strong, ikaika is the word used the most. It is also used a lot as a first name for a boy.
Hope this helps
Malia
