Question Hi Bruce. Looking to plan a trip to the big island in mid-to-late October '09. There are 5 of us: my husband and I and our 11 year old triplet boys. We'd appreciate your thoughts on where to stay and what to see. We're considering a house or condo rental (if reasonable enough) given our boys are active and eat all the time! Thank you in advance for the help.
October is a great time to come to Hawaii price wise. We're seeing great prices on airfare for that time right now. Condos are great choice and the more affordable ones are in the Kona area. You might want to consider the Outrigger Royal sea cliffs.
There are many things to do on the big Island to keep you busy from snorkeling & horseback riding to helicopter and glass bottom boat rides but the main attraction of course is a Volcano national Park. Keep in mind it's a pretty long ride from coma so give yourself plenty of time or consider staying on the Hilo side for a night.
please let me know if I can be of more help
Mahalo, Bruce
