Question Dear Malia,
You helped me greatly in planning my honeymoon to Hawaii and now I'm trying to help a friend plan her wedding on Maui. Do you have recommendations for hotels or resorts that offer wedding services? My friend lives in Washington, DC and will have to plan from there so it would be great to use someone who is dependable, reputable, affordable and in a beautiful location on a beach. I am happy I was able to help you with your honeymoon and I am sure you had a wonderful time here in our islands :-)
We have so many weddings celebrated in Hawaii ( more than Vegas!) and most bigger hotels and resorts offer wedding ceremonies and many even have chapels on location.
On Maui the most beautiful places are on the west coast Ka'anapali, Lahaina and Kapalua and then further east Kihei. If you look at a map of Maui, you see it's shaped like a number 8 sideways. So the first 3 cities mentioned are on the left side of the sideways 8, on the south, and Kihei is in the middle of the circles of the 8, also on the ocean.
In Kihei you have 2 beautiful resorts, the 4 Seasons and the Mauna Lani Resort. In Kapalua there is the Ritz, and in Lahaina and Ka'anapali there are plenty, the Marriott, Sheraton etc.
The most beautiful are definitely the Ritz and the 4 Seasons and Mauna Lani, but it also depends on how much $ your friends wants to spend, because some hotels are very expensive. On the other hand, when you marry there, sometimes they offer a night in the wedding suite for free, or a free spa package etc. She should make sure she asks for all those available packages.
