Question
I have been self-employed for the last seven years. I worked non-profit for ten years prior to that. I have an MBA, and am once again searching for a job. I am open to anything; I just want an opportunity. I have a floral business that has been hit hard by the economy. I closed my retail space, and moved the business to my house. Sales have dwindled tremendously. I am a fast learner and a hard worker. I have enjoyed the challenge and flexibility of being a small business owner. I would like to think there is some way I can turn that experience into a new opportunity with another company. I am looking for some stability. Can you offer any words of wisdom?

Answer
Cindy-

Thanks for your question.

You need to do an honest assessment of your abilities and interests and then pick a direction you would like your career to take.  Success in your chosen field may require some specific training or education(even with your MBA).  You may want to solicit advice from friends and clients who may have ideas, but may also give you some leads if they know you are looking.  Basically, pick a direction and do everything required to
be a success in that position.

Good luck!
