Question
Ed,
Hello!  I have been in ATL for a little over a year, and I am having a difficult time finding work (permanent or temporary).  I've registered with a couple of agencies that are reputable in the area. I have contacted each agency to inform them of my availability and eagerness to get started, on a contiuous basis.  Unfortunately, I'm always told that they have no work or its been filled by someone else.  I have 13 years of experience working in an administrative compacity, as well as, 8 years of HR experience.  My computer/technical skills are top-notch in the field, so, I'm just confused why I'm not getting ANY calls. What are others doing to get work?  Please help!!!

Answer
Paradise-

Thanks for your question.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things.  The HR market is a little soft currently, so you might want to concentrate on getting your foot in the door with an admin position.  If you could find an admin position (temp or perm) in the HR department of a company - that sounds like an ideal opportunity for you to prove yourself.

Please be persisitent.  The more companies who know about you, the better your chances.

Good luck!
Ed Freeman
