Headhunters & Employment Agencies - Entry level Financial Analyst

Expert: Ed Freeman - 6/24/2004

Question
Dear Mr. Freeman,

As a recent graduate from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, concentration in finance, I am actively seeking a position as a Financial Analyst/Consultant.

A position as an analyst is a logical sequel to my academic training which would allow me the opportunity to serve as a vital member of a team in both risk assessment and capital asset management.

Since you have more than 17 years of recruiting experience in the Atlanta area, could you provide me with some incite which would help me break into this field?  Specifically, which companies or firms are most likely to recruit recent graduates in the area? I ask this question because most job postings require experience. How does one get this experience? If you would allow me the opportunity of emailing my resume and cover letter, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your time and consideration in answering my questions.

Sincerely,

Kevin P. O'Keefe

Answer
Kevin-

Thanks for your question.  First of all - explore all of the resources supplied by the placement office at GSU.  Many entry level positions are filled through on campus recruiting and the information available through the school.

Most recruiters will require a couple of year's experience due to the requests we get from clients - very few entry level positions.

Take advantage of the local job boards such as http://atlantarecruiter.com and explore the search links on my site at http://employmentatlanta.com/#resume

Good luck!
