Headhunters & Employment Agencies - Relocating to Atlanta

Expert: Ed Freeman - 6/28/2005

Question
Wanting to break free from the "LA Life" I have done extensive research on Atlanta and find it to be a city of great interest to relocate to. The job market seems to be on the up and the cost of living is far less expensive than that within California. I have family that permanently resides within Atlanta so making a quick transition wouldn't be a problem - obtaining a job first and then to follow will be finding my own home. I have 2 options as to which field to pursue - Marketing/Public Relations or the Mortgage Banking Industry. I have been actively involved in Marketing/PR for 4 years, overseeing extensive projects on a freelance basis for a highly prominent entertainment PR firm in LA AND various other companies. I have been fulltime in Mortgage Banking for 6 years (5 years with one company). Which, in your opinion, would be wiser to pursue in Atlanta? Are there any headhunters/employment agencies that specialize in assisting out of state individuals in their job transition phase?

Answer
Jessica-

Thanks for your question.
Most good recruiters have a specialty - mine is accounting.
Start with a google search for "marketing/public relationsjobs in Atlanta" or "banking recruiter in Atlanta" and contact some of the recruiters on the results list.

We also keep a variety of helpful job search links on our site at http://employmentatlanta.com/#resume

As a recruiter, I do have a difficult time helping out of state candidates as we have such a deep pool of qualified folks already in the city.

Good luck!
