Headhunters & Employment Agencies - employment question - salary

Expert: Ed Freeman - 7/7/2005

Question
Hello.  I don't know if you can help me but it's worth a shot.  I've been working for a company through a temp agency for 4 months now.  The company is now offering me a permanent position.  I was asked if I had a salary in mind, and I said I didn't.

The job title is Quality Control Examiner.  The agency is paying me $15/hour.  I don't know anything about what other people doing my job are getting paid.  I tried to do a search for this title on the internet and I'm not getting anything because I keep on getting a job description that doesn't match mine.

Perhaps you know the average salary of a Quality Control Examiner.  I would think I would be in the right to ask for more than what the agency is giving me.  Would $19/hr be a reasonable jump?  Your opinion is appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
James-

Thanks for your question.

I'm not that familiar with QC salaries, but it sounds like a reasonable jump to me.  You can get salary comparisons at

Good luck and congratulations!
