Question Hi Ed-
I was contacted by a technical recruiting firm about a position that I am interested in pursuing, however, it is "contract to hire".
In your mind how secure should I be with that type of arrangement? (assuming I got the job)
He described the arrangement like this... I would leave my job now and go on my COBRA benefits for now, while I was technically an employee at the recruiting firm. He indicated that I would interview with the corporation, and basically if they liked me enough to contract to hire, they would hire me on full time.
Obviously there are no guarantees, but is it really that easy? What are my risks in pursuing this opportunity?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
Steve

Thanks for your question.
I have had really good luck over the years with temp to perm situations. It is a very good way for you to find out about the company and the company to find out about you as an employee.
There aren't any real risks - if you don't like the position you give some notice and resign, if the company isn't interested in you they will end the assignment.
