Answer Hospitals, nursing homes, and private practices depend on healthcare consultants to provide them with advice and guidance. Being a healthcare consultant requires an expertise in one or more of the following areas of healthcare administration - accounting and financial management, billing, marketing, human resources management, management information systems, fundraising, practice management, facility planning, strategic planning, etc. There are firms that specialize in certain areas of consulting, while many CPA firms also have healthcare consulting divisions. This is also an area where a person could work for himself or herself as an independent consultant. Again, the key to entering this profession is to develop a true expertise in some aspect of healthcare management. Write back if you have specific questions.
