Question I am currently a student at a junior college and a CNA, I am one class away from my associates in Liberal Arts, after really thinking about what I want a career in I have decided to go into a field of healthcare administration (really wish I would have gotten my associates in Healthcare admin, but too late now), my question is two part, 1. Are there any entry level assistant healthcare admin jobs that will accept an associates in liberal arts and 2. Do you know of any schools that have accelerated programs for bachelors in HCA.
Answer To see a list of schools offering programs in healthcare administration, visit www.aupha.org. In terms of entry level positions, I suggest that you consider meeting with the Director of Nursing at one of your local hospitals to see if you can work out an arrangement where you can work as a CNA and also have the opportunity to do an internship in healthcare administration. Very often, you can arrange to take on an administrative project for the department that will provide you with hands-on experience that will eventually look good on your resume, once you complete your 4-year degree in healthcare administration. The other option is to approach the administrator of a large private practice to see if you can do the same kind of thing - work as a CNA and also work in the administrative area as well.
