Subject: chest pain

Question
About an hour after a light dinner of soup and a piece of garlic/cheese bread,
while playing Upwords, I suddenly became extremely nauseous and sick
feeling (no one else became ill). Then I began to have pain just below my
sternum around where my bra band is. I had a few dry heaves (I had nissan-
fundoplication surgery and cannot vomit) then began to feel hotter and
hotter. The pain continued as did the heavy sweating and feeling of being
very hot. After perhaps 5 minutes I began to feel better and started cooling
off. However, I continued to feel weak for some minutes after. Earlier in the
day, I felt as if I had a stiff, sore neck but if I rubbed the sides it was a little
sore. I don't know if that is a coincidence or not. I feel fine, now from both
things. I am a 61 year old woman, overweight and take atenolol for
arrhythmia (also Allegra D, low dose Prempro and Celebrex). Should I be
concerned? I'm quite sure it wasn't gerd as the surgery has continued to work
fine these several years. Thank you for your assistance.

Answer
Dear Cheri,

Maybe a little concerned.  It was probably not heart, but to be sure you need to see a doctor and have an EKG.

Please write back if this note doesn't answer all your questions, and PLEASE let me know what you find out.
