Expert: David Richardson Date: 5/15/2008 Subject: heart hurts when running
Question when I run my heart starts to beat really fast like 7 beats every 5 seconds. I call this heart racing but my friend told me it dosnt exist. My doctor says that it might be a form of asthma.
Is my friend right that it dosnt exist or is my doctor right and is it asthma
please respond i need to know because it happens ever time i run which prevents me from activitys like track
thanks
Answer Dear Amber,
7 beats every 5 seconds is 84 beats a minute, a perfectly normal heart rate when you're running. It's called normal sinus tachycardia. This heart rate doesn't mean you have asthma. It's perfectly normal.
