Question
Can you please tell me if low blood pressure has anything to do with skips in the heart?  I know my blood pressure is around 102/65 and my doctor says it is fine and it has always been like that.  I know you say pvc's are normal cardiac activity but can you tell me if you holtered 100% of the population for 24 hours what percentage of holters would come back with no pvc's?  What would be a normal number of pvc's and pac's to see on a 24 hour holter do you think?

Answer
Dear bipthbop,

On Holter, about 25% of us have PVC's and 25% have PAC's, so about half of have neither on one 24 hour record.  Any number of PVC's or PAC's is normal, even every other beat.  The number seen is so different from one individual to another that I don't know what a normal number is, a few thousand a day maybe.

Lowish blood pressure is very good for protection from heart disease and has nothing to do with PVC's.

Please write back if this note doesn't answer all your questions.
