Heart & Cardiology - Abnormal EKG Result

Expert: Frank J. Pearl, M.D. - 10/18/2009

Question
I went to the local clinic yesterday for a EKG.
They could not interpret the results.
The doctor just said it was, "An abnormal T wave".

I wondering if they made a mistake with the leads.
Could you take a look at this ECG result and tell me what you think?

55 year old male
Good physical condition
6'-1" 185 lbs
Some family history of heart disease
No personal current or historic medical conditions
Take maintenance drug - 20mg Lovastatin daily

Answer
It is a non-specific finding. It could be normal secondary to lead placement. It could be abnormal reflecting a number of different disorders. You need to discuss this with your personal physician who will know all of the details of your case including why you were getting the EKG. Good luck!!!
