reassurance with these horrible things, one more question i forgot to ask was
i have been having these skipped beats throughout the day for 2 weeks now,
but the weird thing is that, when i sit down in the evening and throughout the
night they competely dissapear!! not even a sign of 1!! usually starts about 2
hours after waking. Do you know why this is? i have had 2 2hr ecgs during
operations, and i suppose they would have picked something up then? am i
right in thinking that? I REALLY fell these damn things are completely
controlling my life at the moment, i feel them more in my throat and under
my left breast and sometimes get lots of excess gas. Could you please help
in putting my mind at rest, have asked dr before and he didnt say much atall ,
apart from i get them too! i wake early in the morning panicking about
getting these things in the day, does anxiety make them worse!! Please help!!

Answer Dear Kate,
Skipped beats are usually more frequent at rest. I don't know why yours disappear in the evenings. Two-hour ecgs may miss them. They really are harmless, don't mean you have heart disease or will ever have heart disease or any catastrophe. Anxiety may make them more frequent. Not hereditary so far as is known. Medicine called beta blockers may prevent anxiety form making them more frequent. Metoprolol and atenolol are two common beta blockers.
