QUESTION: Thank you for responding. I hope you had a good night's sleep. The med's my mother is taking are: metformin 850mg 2x a day, glizipide 10mg 1x a day,amlodipine besylate 20mg 1x a day, hydrocodone 10/325mg as needed, hyzaar 100 1x a day, hctz 12.50 mg 1x a day, metoprolol tartrate 200mg 2x a day,folic acid 1 x a day, levothyroidroxize .175mg 1 x a day, 81 mg aspirin, Generic Name Brand Name
gabapentin 300mg as needed, pantoprazole 1 x a day and lomotil 1 x a day. My mother do have hypothyroidism.

Answer
Dear Louise,

Paantoprazole and amlodipine can cause swelling of lower eyelids.  Try stopping the pantoprazole for 5 days.  If that doesn't work, restart it and decrease the dose of amlodipine to 10 mg a day.  Her hypothyroidism seems adequately treated, so that's probably not the cause.  I'm very sorry she's so sick.

Please let me know if you find anything that helps.

David
