Heart & Cardiology/Skipped Heart Beats

Question
Dr.

For the last month, I have been having around 200 skipped heartbeats (pvc's/pac's) most days. No symptoms to speak off other than a fleeting sensation in my chest. Ten years ago I had a normal Echo and 9 months ago I had a normal EKG at my local Dr's office. Should I be concerned?

         Thanks,

Answer
Hi Kent,
It is unlikely much has changed with your heart after your last tests and patients with normal heart function (like you) usually don't have to worry.
Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs) are an arrhythmia and relatively common. Some people are very sensitive and feel every abnormality, others are blissfully unaware of them.
PVCs may indicate the presence of underlying heart disease. If a patient has NO significant underlying heart disease, PVCs are probably not dangerous.
