Heart & Cardiology/chest pains

Question
For whatever reason I have had strange aches and pains in my chest for a couple of years. They are typically short in duration ( 15- 20 seconds)but annoying. I do have mild anxiety. I have had EKG's, echo's, lab work, chest x-rays and even a cardiac calcium scan. Im 40. Anyway, the last month or so, I get a dull type pain dead in the center of my chest. Right around sternum. It last 15 seconds and goes away. It may come and go for an hour but never last more than several seconds. It never spreads anywhere else.I can almost put my finger on the area and I have notices when I press the area it is sore. Again, its almost dead center on sternum... It drives me nuts but I dont want to go to the doctor every time it happens..ANy idea what this could be. It is never on exetrion and typically while sitting or just doing ADL's.

Answer
Hi Waybe,
Your symptoms are not suggestive of coronary artery disease and angina:

After all these negative cardiac tests and unless your risks for heart disease have changed recently, there is no reason to believe these symptoms have anything to do with your heart:

You can also analyze your symptoms and your risk for heart disease:

Hope this helps,
