Heart & Cardiology/Arrhythmia
I have a problem with rare episodes of rapid tachycardia rarely happens 1 to 2 times a year.I have done many ECG's but I have not been able to catch the problem of ECG.I wore Holter several times but during Holter nothing happens only some pvcs thats it,also several times I've been on Echo and stress ecg.Tests show Early repolarization and also a very slight mitral valve prolapse.Tachycardia that bothers me is the following:heart beats very fast, I can not count i guess it's somewhere around 200bpm, also sometimes during this tachycardia I feel pauses like this: beat.beat.beat...PAUSE...beat.beat.beat.beat...PAUSE..and so it goes at high rates.Does that sound something like V-Tach or V-Fib,I also know that ventricular tachycardia is bad but is it always life-threatening.During tachycardia there are symptoms shortness of breath, stomach ache and dizziness. Not associated with tachycardia i have chest pressure sometimes.I'm currently on beta-blocker and magnesium.
PS.all the reading in the net makes me anxious about V-Fib and SCD I am only 26 :(.I am a smoker but I try to stop them.200 pounds , 6.10 feet , no family history of heart problems.I need advice thank you very much.
No, your tachycardia is supraventricular. Either paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia or perhap atrial fibrillation. Neither will lead to ventricular tachycardia or sudden cardiac death.
