Heart & Cardiology/Rapid heart rate

Question
My mum needs to undergo mild surgery to collect a biopsy. The only problem is that it's very sore and she wants to be anaesthatised to get it done,  but her heart rate is 130 roughly and the doctor has refused to give her medication as it could  cause her copd to become worse. Is there any medication which would be ok with copd? Thanks

Answer
Hi Amjad,
If your mom's doctors are concerned to give anesthesia, her heart&lungs should be evaluated first to see if she is strong enough to tolerate the procedure. Of course, most biopsies can be performed under local anesthesia, much the preferred way if possible.
