Question
My husband had a pacemaker implanted last week at a Hospital.  I monitor his oxygen and pulse rate.  Today it registered 102 beats per minute.  It has continued high for over two hours, even at rest.  He feels good with no complaints.

How concerned should we be.  He is 87

Answer
Hi Sue,
Your husband's heart rate of 102/min are probably his own and not caused by the pacemaker. This is best checked with your doctor, because this may be a new and abnormal rhythm. It could also be the pacemaker, in which case it needs to be checked as well. Pacemakers often are inserted for slow heart rates (bradycardias):

Hope this helps,
