Heart & Cardiology/Mitral Valve prolapse and working out

Good Afternoon,

I am currently 100 lbs overweight and have high blood pressure.  I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse in December but I do not have the regurgitation.  I am wanting to start working out again but I am scared to because of the mitral value prolapse and the high blood pressure.  I know I need to start off slow but is there any suggestions you can provide.

Thank you

Hi Dori,
You should be scared of your high BP and your weight! Unless you diet & exercise your risk for diabetes, heart disease and stroke are going to increase every year. Since your valve is not leaking you have nothing to worry about at this time.
Hope this helps,
