Question
I'm only 30. Female.
60lbs overweight.
Bp 117/77
Total cholesterol 182
HDL- 28
Triglycerides- elevated (not high)
No diabetes
No smoking
Dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes around 45.
Then at 48/49 he was found to have 90%blockage in main artery, 50%in others.

1. What is my risk? I'm incredibly terrified of heart attack and I feel like I'm about to drop dead of one everyday. I can't function.

2. Which would be more beneficial at my age to look at my arteries? Calcium or CT angiogram?

3. Have I already caused the damage and on the way to an attack?

4. If not, what do you suggest to calm me down?

Answer
Hi Ashley,
Calculate your cardiac risks here:

Your biggest risk is your weight from what you told me. You don't need your arteries looked at unless your risks are high; you need to looses weight (diet & exercise)!

Hope this helps,
