Question
What is a safe blood pressure range for my mother, 82 years old,  recovering well from a mild hemorrhagic stroke, basal ganglia (hypertensive/thalamic)?
Her bp averages 130s to 140s daily. Morning bp is highest, ranges 140s to 150s, sporadically 160s.
She is taking telmisartan/micardis 40mg, 1 time daily.

Answer
Hi Nancy,
At 82, your mom's BP is fine, unless there are urgent other reasons to get it down lower. I don't think her hemorrhagic stroke was a result of hypertension, unless it was much higher at the time. In any case, it appears stable at these values.
Hope this helps,
