Topic: Heart & Cardiology

Expert: Frank J. Pearl, M.D.
Date: 3/9/2005
Subject: CoQ10 with Lipitor

Question
I have experienced neck and shoulder pain since I started Lipitor 10 mg about 6 months ago.  I would like to try CoQ10 to see if it helps with the muscle ache.  Two questions:

1.  How much Coq10 would you recommend?

2.  How long do you think it would take before I may  see any effect?

Thank you.

Bart

Answer
Check with your personal physician to make sure that there is not an elevation of your muscle enzymes and to make sure that the 100mg dose is appropriate for you. If it is going to be beneficial, I would expect you to see an effect within days to weeks. Good luck!!!
