Heart & Cardiology - left pectoral muscle spasm

Expert: David Richardson - 8/18/2006

Question
i was watching t.v  and out of the blue my left chest muscle started to spasm it was mot painful as so much annoying it continued all night.it would stop for a few seconds than start then stop then start.iam 28 yr old healthy male,i exercise, try to eat right

Answer
Dear Francisco,

No problem, I think.  But what do you mean by spasm?  Did you see the skin twitch?  How do you know you had spasm of the left pectoral muscle?  I think spasm of a skeletal muscle would cause pain.  At any rate, you can ignore it unless some other muxcle starts to spasm.  Then you should see a neurologist to be sure you don't have Lou Gehrig's disorder.
