I have worked in the airconditioning field for 18 years. I started out doing ductwork for a company that sent me to a vocation school for airconditioning and refrigeration. I have worked in the commercial field and now work in the residential field as a service tech. I can answer questions about heat pumps and airconditioners. I can also answer electrical questions. Please do not ask me about gas or oil units as I am not an expert in these fields.

Another issue to consider is your warranty on the outdoor unit (if there is one): Many manufacturers are now denying warranty claims where there is a mismatch between the coil and the unit.
