Question How do I test if I'm getting any signal to the gas control valve? It is a Honeywell VR8204-2050. Controller is a Honeywell S8610U. It doesn't appear that gas is going to the pilot (can't manually light), no spark (no clicking). Any help is greatly appreciated.
Answer If you are not getting a spark or clicking, this has to happen before the pilot valve opens. This is controlled strictly by the Honeywell controller. Check the wire attached to the W terminal strip at the furnace with one voltmeter lead on the W and one on the common terminal. If you do not have 24 volts between these two terminals, the thermostat is not sending the signal for heat to initiate, if you do have 24 volts, there is either a failed safety, a safety that is doing its job, or the controller has failed. Thanks J
