This Jan. my furnace computer board actually caught on fire.

While enjoying a quiet evening with my family all of a sudden the smell of burnt plastic permeated throughout

the house via the vents.

After calling our local utility who dispatched a technician within 20 mins he arrived.

He inspected the heating system and  reignited  the system with the safety door cover switch manually depressed.

All of a sudden there was a fire on the board ( i saw it ).

He said, " if we had not been home the house could have caught on fire."

My query to the manufacturer is why are there not better safe guards to product from this. (Carrier).
