Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - gas boiler furnace

Expert: J Cook - 1/10/2009

Question
hi. i have a gas boiler furnace that has four pipes forcing water into separate
sections of the house. i've had issues for years where the boxes on the pipes
stop controlling the heat. we find out when it's freezing, though sometimes
we can manually turn them on...but there's no automatic response. the boxes
have been changed from time to time but it's getting frustrating--and cold.
the boxes say white rodgers and have a manual/auto slide control on the
bottom. any clue what is going wrong and how to fix it?

Answer
In my own opinion, the first problem is the White Rodgers controls. In my opinion, they are the cheaper version of any control and I personally do not use them. I would call a boiler expert and have them review the unit and all related controls to give you an on site solution to an on going problem. Thanks J
