Question i have a Bryant system my unit stopped working about two weeks ago in the middle of the night the at-stat does not light up i checked the two breaker on top of the house on
the heater unit there is power to unit i can hear a whinnying noise but fan does come on they told me it might be the compressor contact on the outside unit any ideas
Answer If the thermostat does not have power, the indoor unit first needs to be tested to ensure it has 240 volts feeding to it. If so, the low voltage transformer in the unit needs to be tested to ensure it has 240 volts feeding in and 24 volts feeding out. If 240 is feeding in but 24 is not feeding out, the transformer has failed and it directly feeds the stat, so it will not have power. Thanks J
