Question Carrier Commercial Rooftop Furnace
Model 48KL-024-311BF
48KL-024-300BF
About 1 1/2 years ago, I helped some friends replace the flame sensor on an old Carrier rooftop furnace on their old restaurant. They called Carrier and was told that the flame sensor was an LH33CM018. Upon replacing the sensor, the furnace worked.
Now, the furnace will not stay lit again. I had them pick up a new flame sensor. I installed it and the furnace will not stay lit. The electronic spark starts, gas flows and the pilot and burners light. They stay lit for about a minute. The fan then kicks on and blows out the burner and pilot light. The electronic sparking will start again, but the furnace does not re-light. Can you help me try to trouble shoot this problem?
Answer If the furnace will light each and every time with the fan off and not with the fan on, then there are big problems. One problem that can cause the issue is a cracked heat exchanger. The unit needs to be inspected to be sure all is ok with the unit.
