Question Hi and thanks. I have a vintage "Brilliant Fire" gas space heater in my log cabin that has been there for many years. It still works great except occasionally when the flame turns off, it will back fire (small) and snuff out the standing pilot. Any ideas?
I have cleaned many furnaces working for my dad when he was alive, but I can't seem to figure out how the burners come out of this thing to blow them out. Could this be the problem?? I cannot find any info on this furnace at all!!
Thanks for any help you can give!!!
Mike
Answer Hi Mike, Know what you're saying about the backfire at shutdown. I'm not really sure but think it is a gas valve that doesn't snap closed but leaks a little gas before closing. Probably nothing to do about it since its been around awhile. How about putting a shield arond the pilot flame to try to stop it blowing it out but still allow for proper ignition.
