Question
I have a Whirlpool side by side. Model # ED25RFXFW01.  It works well but every couple of days it stops running (both fridg and freezer) and defrosts.  After several hours, it will kick back on and start working fine.  This happens about once a week.

Answer
An intelligent guess would be a weak defrost timer.  Part number is 482493 and your cost is 21.95 + 5.95 shipping.  The timer is located int eh fresh food section in the front controls.  If you look up and underneath toward the right had side you will see two screws.  Between these two screws off centered, will be a hole (sometime they plug these...pop the plug) where you can actually insert a flat bladed screw driver and turn clockwise until it pops out of defrost and starts the fans and compressor.  Keep in mind , it may be a bad contact in the cold control.  When unit is dead, tap on the control that says off.  If I can help further.....it must be in the next 24 hours as we are going on Vacation until November 2nd.  Should you choose to order, follow this link to our website where you can fill out the secure order form to process your order.  https://www.affordableappliance.com/orderform.php  If you have any problems, concerns or need further information, feel free to reply to this email or for Parts Order Only, call 570-622-6441.  Keep in mind ordering through us helps continue this free on-line help available for you and many others.  Help those that help you.

Waiting to hear from you,
