Question Residential EMM3 mini zone issue - I have 3 zones, all work normally most of the time. Zone 2 will run constant heat at times getting up to 85 degrees. This with the thermostat set to 67 or even in the off position. Thermostat does not show the little flame indicator as it does on normal operation when calling for heat. If i shut down the furnace at the main switch on the furnace itself, of course everything turns off and upon restart an hour later, things return to normal for a day or two. The thermostats ar the basic honeywell digital with up down keys and on/off/auto. No timers etc...

Question
DEAR SIR
I HAD NEW FURNACE WITH EMM-3.SOMETIME THE RED LIGHT FROM EMM-3 CONTINUES TO FLASH AND THE AIR COMING OUT OF THE DUSTS IS COOL.(THE FLASHING RED INDICATES THAT THE PANAL HAS LOCKED OUT ON HIGH LIMIT ALERT).BUT SOME TIME ITWORKING FINE (RED LIGHT ON-MEAN HEAT IS ON).DDO YOU HAVE ANT IDEA.THANK YOU
Here is a link to the manual for your zone control panel. Download and save it so you have it for reference.
http://customer.honeywell.com/Techlit/pdf/68-0000s/68-3041.pdf
Turn to page 8 and check the second item for "DATS Temperature..." and you will find the explanation of what should be happening in the "System Action" column and the "Comments" column.
The flashing red LED is not so much a lockout as it is an overtemp that the system is designed to handle with a fan purge cycle. Check your system against the times shown for fan action and for what is supposed to happen. If the fan action and times matches what is in the manual then things are okay. If it doesn't match then there is a problem with the airflow, the sensor, one of the dampers, or the zone controller.
To troubleshoot where the problem is you will have to have access to a thermometer that is accurate and can take the air temperature in the duct where the DATS is located and a meter to check voltages. If you have these and can do some troubleshooting then I can probably work through it with you.
I hope this helps, you can try the web site above I do not have much expertise on these units
