Question
My Trane XB1000 outside units fan does not spin when the AC is on.  It makes normal noise for about 5 minutes then the sound of the noise changes and thas is when I shut it down because it doesn't sound healthy.

The fan spins freely when I spin it with a screwdriver and taking the advice of a friend I have already replaced the capacitor.  Any suggestions on why the an blades arent turning or waht it causing it to make that noise?

Thanks,

eric

Answer
your motr is most likely bad, seeing as you already replaced the cap, not expensive if you do it!  the noise is the internal pressure release that equalizes the pressures , by opening when a fan stops removing heat thus faing to condense , or at best  a static condenser without fan,  in this situation the pressure rises until around 350 and opens the valve you here.
