Question
i have a 4 ton Goodman heat pump. it ran for a year with many complaints on the heating and cooling side. a tech went out and condemned the compressor. the compressor was changed out two months ago. now i arrive to find the compressor out on thermal over-load. if it is running in cooling mode the pressures and the amps are fine. when it is switched to heating mode the low side pressure is fine and stays that way but the head pressure (and amps) slowly climb until it shuts the system down. both inside and out have piston and i have checked both. i have replaced the line dryer and the reversing valve checks out. i think  there is a blockage in the outdoor coil but looking for a second opinion.

Answer
you got it!   obstructed check valve probably!  they really should of replaced the cond unit, although technically possible (and i have done many) to pull off, any minute particle that enters the system is there for life unless luckty enough to catch in filter, but remember filter dryers must work bi flow in heat pumps so any particle flushed in can be flushed back out as well !! causing intermittant or continual problems!! new condenser and coil indoors I am  afraid to really get it done right
