Question
I am planning on getting central air installed in my house for the 1st time.  I have a 2 story, 44 year old house.  Have had 2 estimates.  What is your opinion of comparing Carrier brand to Amana brand.  Know Amana is cheaper, but is it comparable in quality.  Thanks for the info.  Hope you can get back to me soon.

Answer
This is my personal opinion, but I would not install Amana if it was given to me. I just replaced both of my aging Carrier units with Goodman. They have a full ten year warranty on every part and for an additional $99, I have a 99 year extended compressor warranty. I would highly advise installing two units since you are installing for the first time. To get the best comfort level, you need an upstairs and downstairs unit. My home is over 100 years old and this was my solution and works great. Thanks J
