Question Hi. I own a condo with roughly 1500 sq ft of livign space (2 stories). The AC unit (which is a heating and AC unit) is on the roof. The problem is that when I turn it on, it works but only for about 10 - 15 minutes. After that the circuit braker "pops" in the electrical service panal and thus the AC turns off. If I wait 10 - 15 mins, I can push the circuit breaker back and turn the AC on again. But , as before, it will only last 10 minutes or so before the circuit breaker "pops" again. Do you know if this is an AC problem or an electrical problem? Is it something I can fix or would the entire AC/Heating unit need to be replaced?
I had one person so far to come out and look at it. He just said that the unit is old and suggested replacing it. He quoted me $10,000 - that seems really high. Do you have an idea of it should cost?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Answer WOW !!!! 10 grand !! Must be awful hungry.Talk to your neighbors or friends for recommendations of who they use. Get rid of this guy.
Now, your troubles could be a condenser fan motor that's not running, or even a bad circuit breaker, OR even a loose wire connection.Strat off with a loose wire connection somewhere in the power circuit. That thing on the roof ain't good unless it's easy to get to.A 3 story building with a metal roof is the worse. Get several bids if possible.
