I'm hoping you can help me out with my Bryant Air Conditioner outside unit. The outside unit won't kick on. (No Hum or sound at all.) Unit is about 10 years old, but motor and fan blade are less than 2 years old and capacitor is 3 years old. (I did try swapping it out with a good one to see if that would help, but no luck).
The only thing that has changed since last fall, when it was on last, is that I pulled out the inside Furnace Blower Motor during the winter to clean it up and remove a lot of dust causing system sound issues. I put it back in and it works fine moving heat, but I'm afraid I may have hit something electrically that is preventing the outside unit for knowing to turn on.
I did just read about a potential "kill" switch on drain pan that is sometimes used in the attic, but my system is installed in the basement so I don't know right now if it has it.
Thoughts? How can I test or check for source of problem?
Thanks,
Dan
Answer Start off testing for power supply to the outside unit by pressing in the start relay manually. If it runs, it's a control circuit problem. Look for some wires near the outlet of the drain pan to see if you have an overflow kill switch. If you have a condensate puimp for the water from the evaporator coil that will kill the outside unit too when the pump fails. If it is a control circuit need to inspect those wires from the furnace to the outside for damage.
