Heating, Air Conditioning, Fridge, HVAC - digital thermostat

Expert: J Cook - 5/8/2009

Question
I have a fan coil system for which I want to replace the very old 120V line voltage mechanical thermostat (Honeywell T694M) with a digital one.
Unfortunately all 120V line voltage digital thermostats have 6A or less capacity and my fan coil has TWO 5A motors (each 1/8 hp), so I figured I will have to use some kind of relay control board. Motors have 3 speed wiring.
Also, cooling is by centralized cold water with a 120V valve only, while heating is with a 120V / 17A heating strip.
Please advise on the control board necessary to hook up a 24V 3 speed cool/heat digital thermostat to this system.
Thank you very much!

Answer
Mat, I try to help as much as possible, but with this many components and the conversion necessary to change to a low voltage control system, I just do not have the time to relate all of the information necessary for this conversion. There are also many more component questions I would need to ask. The best bet will be to have an HVAC technician see the system and make some control suggestions. Thanks J
